FAQ

Arrival and check-in

When can we check in?

Check-in is from 2 pm. Until midnight, someone from our team welcomes you in person, lets you in and shows you around. Just let us know your arrival time beforehand.

We arrive late, even after midnight. Is that okay?

Yes. After midnight you let yourselves in with a key box. Our team explains how it works on WhatsApp beforehand, and we do the proper welcome the next day.

How do we get to you from the airport or the port?

From Chania airport it's about 20 to 30 minutes by taxi. Taxis stop at the church on Splantzia Square, just a few steps from the house. There is also a bus to the central bus station, about a 15-minute walk from us. From Heraklion (airport or ferry port) it's a good two hours by car and almost three by coach.

Can we check in early or drop off our luggage?

If nobody checks out of your apartment that day, you can move in earlier at no extra cost. If it isn't ready yet, leave your luggage with us and head into town.

Do you arrange airport transfers?

We don't offer our own transfer. Taxis wait right outside the terminal at Chania airport. Give the driver the address Par. Roussou Vourdoumba 11 and they'll take you to the church on Splantzia Square.

Is a free airport taxi included with Booking.com?

Not from us. Booking.com offers its own taxi deal with some bookings. It is handled entirely by Booking.com, so please contact them directly about it.

How do we reach the team on site?

Your contact is Gabi (Home 1 and 2) or Guylaine (Home 4). You'll get the number with your guest guide a few days before arrival; WhatsApp is the quickest way.

Why should we do the online check-in?

Booking platforms no longer share your phone number with us. The online check-in takes two minutes: tell us your arrival time and WhatsApp number, so your apartment is ready and we can welcome you.

Car and parking

Do you have parking?

No. The old town is a pedestrian zone, and like all the historic houses there we have no private parking. You park at the edge of the old town and walk the last few minutes.

Where is the best place to park?

Our tip is the free car park at the East Moat (Anatoliki Tafros), about three minutes on foot. If it's full, there are paid car parks at Defkalionos Square, Santa Lucia and the Kydon garage. On the street, blue lines are paid (Mon–Sat 7:00–21:00, max. four hours, pay with the i-PARK Chania app), white lines are free and yellow lines mean no parking.

Do we need a car, and can you recommend a rental company?

Everything in Chania is within walking distance; for beaches and day trips a car is worth it. We recommend Pancar, a small local company we know personally: no deposit, free cancellation, pick-up at Chania and Heraklion airports among others. As our guests you get a discount, and we send you the code after booking.

Equipment

Do you have a baby cot and a high chair?

Yes. We have two baby cots, two high chairs and extra beds for children. Let us know before you arrive and everything will be ready.

Is there a washing machine and a dryer?

Yes. Home 4 has its own washing machine in the bathroom. Guests in Home 1 and 2 share a laundry room with a washing machine, a dryer and drying racks.

Is it warm in winter, and is there air conditioning?

All bedrooms have air conditioning and all apartments are heated. Home 4 also has an open fireplace. We're open all year round.

Is there a hair dryer, iron, safe or TV?

Every apartment has a hair dryer, and the team can bring you an iron. There is no safe and no TV.

How does the hot water work?

Water is heated by solar panels and, when there's little sun, by an electric boiler. Switch it on before showering and off again afterwards. The team will show you on arrival.

Do you provide bed linen, towels and beach towels?

Yes, all provided. If you'd prefer two separate duvets or an extra top sheet, just tell us before you arrive.

Does each apartment have its own kitchen? Is there a pool?

Every apartment has its own kitchen and living room; there is no shared kitchen. We don't have a pool, but Koum Kapi town beach is about two minutes away on foot.

How is the Wi-Fi? Can we work from there?

Wi-Fi is free in all apartments. Many guests work remotely from here, especially in winter.

Do we need a plug adapter?

Greece uses standard European sockets (type C and F, 230 volts). Coming from the UK, Ireland or overseas, you'll need an adapter.

The apartments

Which apartment suits us?

Home 1 (up to 4 guests) is step-free and has its own back courtyard with an outdoor shower. Home 2 (up to 4) has two bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, ideal for two couples. Home 4 (up to 6) is a two-storey house with a private courtyard, good for families and friends. Home 1 and 2 share an enclosed, gated courtyard where children can play safely.

Is the apartment accessible or wheelchair-friendly?

Home 1 has step-free access from the lane into the living area, with an 82 cm entrance door. It is only partly suitable for wheelchairs, as the bedroom and bathroom doors are 70 cm wide and the shower access is 50 cm. Home 2 is on ground level with one step at the entrance and works well for guests with minor mobility issues. In Home 4 the bedrooms are on the first floor.

What is the layout of Home 4?

Downstairs are the kitchen and living room with fireplace and the bathroom with its own washing machine; stairs lead up to the bedrooms on the first floor. The large bedroom has two double beds, one of them on the open gallery, and the small bedroom has one double bed. All beds are 160 cm wide. There's a private courtyard in front and a patio under the vine arbour upstairs.

Can we book all three houses together?

Yes, for up to 14 guests. All three houses frame the same former convent garden and are linked by an inner gate. Write to us and we'll line up the dates.

Is it quiet?

Yes. The houses sit on a residential lane in Splantzia, surrounded by neighbours rather than hotels. The cafés on the square and the harbour are still only a few minutes away.

Booking and stay

Can we add a guest to our booking?

Yes, as long as the apartment's maximum occupancy isn't exceeded. There is a surcharge per extra guest per night. Message us on the platform you booked with.

Can I get an invoice, also for my company?

Yes, of course. Send us the company name, address and VAT number and we'll issue the invoice.

Can we change our dates or extend our stay?

Just write to us. If the apartment is free, we're happy to adjust your booking. Some changes can only be made on the booking platform, and we'll help you with that.

Can we book directly with you?

Yes. Request your dates directly at www.lindas-homes.de or send us a message.

Do you offer rates for longer winter stays?

Yes. For longer stays, especially in winter, we offer good monthly rates. Ask us about your dates.

Is the apartment cleaned during our stay?

You can add a mid-stay clean with fresh linen at any time for €30. From the third week of your stay, we clean weekly.

Can we bring a pet?

No, unfortunately pets are not allowed.

Is smoking allowed?

Only outdoors in the courtyards; smoking is not allowed inside.

Departure

When is check-out, and what do we do with the keys?

Check-out is by 11 am. In Home 1 and 2, leave the keys on the table and pull the door shut. In Home 4, leave the keys on the table, lock the front door and drop the key into the letterbox.

Can we leave our luggage after check-out or check out later?

Your luggage can stay with us after check-out. A later check-out is possible if no one arrives that day. Just ask the team.

Chania and surroundings

Do you have tips for beaches, day trips and restaurants?

Yes. A few days before arrival you'll receive Michalis' personal Chania guide: tavernas where locals eat, beaches worth the drive, hidden corners of the old town and day trips. For anything else, ask the team or message us.

How far is the nearest beach without a car?

Koum Kapi town beach is about two minutes on foot. The larger sandy beaches west of town are easy to reach by bus or taxi; you'll find tips in the guide.

Is Chania worth visiting in winter?

Yes. Winter in Chania feels like spring in central Europe, the old town belongs to the locals again, and our apartments are heated. We're open all year round.
